Big Brands Pledging to Reduce Plastic Packaging Waste

11 major companies in the beauty industry, including L’Oreal, Unilever, Marks & Spenser, and Walmart, have pledged to work towards “100% reusable, recyclable, or compostable packaging by 2025 or earlier”. This is part of the initiative “New Plastics Economy” launched by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, who are working with government leaders, organizations, NGOs, and corporations to reduce plastic waste. In the beauty industry packing companies, retailers, and big beauty companies must work together in order for it to be a successful initiative. L’Oreal is doing their part in the initiative by committing that “all of its plastic packaging will be rechargeable, refillable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025.”
