German Company, Henkel, Partners to Support Smallholder Palm Oil Farmers in Colombia
Henkel, the German Industrial and Consumer Goods Company, is teaming up with the development organization Solidaridad to promote sustainable palm oil, which will be in support of over 5,000 smallholder farmers in Colombia. The project will utilize digital technology to promote sustainability with a platform called Farming Solution. The need for this platform stems from the critical importance of the palm oil commodity in South America, along with the low productivity of palm oil farms compared to other farms of equal size. The goal of Farming Solution is to increase productivity and sustainability in the Colombian palm oil supply chain. Palm oiler farmers will use the platform to find solutions to the challenges they are facing- with help from experts from around the world.
