Many trends were uncovered at the California SCC Supplier’s Day in October at the Long Beach Convention Center. Most of the trends seen at the convention fall under the green and clean beauty care umbrella. One major trend was the use of plants and soils as ingredients, including sandalwood seeds, tea tree leaves, macadamia oil, and a Canadian glacial clay. Another trend was natural fragrance companies, such as Chemia Fragrance & Flavors and Palette Naturals. Thomas A. Meyer, Vice President of Chemia Fragrance & Flavors, told Cosmetics Design that “small customers are more trendy than big customers” when explaining why Chemia and other natural fragrance suppliers look to the indie beauty market for inspiration.
